What makes Ocado special?
Introduction from Jason Gissing, Ocado Co-Founder
I once described Ocado as a business of the future, embracing rapid technological change - not least our ever-growing online shop - and driving a shift in consumer behaviour. The Internet is changing the world, and we're right at the sharp end: changing the way the UK shops for groceries forever.
I believe that our business is unique. Of course, I'm biased because I happen to think Ocado is the best thing since wholemeal bread. But as an innovative and independent company operating at the cutting edge of online retail, I believe that we've got a better case than most.
So, what makes Ocado so special? If I had to boil it down to a single sentence, I'd say it was our vibrant, informal work environment that encourages you to be yourself and gives you plenty of room to show what you can do.
One of the wonderful things here is that every single person plays a vital role in what we do, from keeping our website running smoothly, to picking and packing our groceries, to delivering them into customers' kitchens. I'm proud to say that our business is full of people who love to muck in, to take ownership and pride in everything they do. And, of course, share our passion for unsurpassable service.
Our organisation has grown from three people to several thousand in just a few highly productive years, which can be put down to a combination of innovation, hard work and seamless teamwork. We're well-placed to build on this incredible growth in the future, which will create enormous opportunities for each and every one of us... and, if you're thinking of applying for a job here, for you!
Yes, we can't do it all ourselves: to achieve long-term success needs even more amazing people to join us. People who are determined to succeed; who are willing to embrace change, and are blessed with a positive, "can-do" attitude. If you're one of them, you'll love working here - and we'll love having you!
