Ocado Technology - Java Developer - Warehouse Management Systems

Ocado are looking for Java developers to work on highly complex, multi-threaded real-time control, warehouse management systems. These systems co-ordinate Ocado's state of the art automated warehouse in Hatfield.  This unique facility contains approx 15 miles of conveyor and hundreds of cranes, lifts and shuttles and is responsible for the picking, packing and dispatching of over 1 million items per day.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Working on a range of highly complex multi-threaded real-time software development projects for Ocado's current facility at Hatfield and for a new facility in Warwickshire.
• Participate effectively in all aspects of software development process.
• Support production systems as required outside of standard working hours
• Work closely with team leader and/or customers on issues relating to design and requirements
• Actively contribute to the process of continual improvement, with regard to self, team and systems
• Ensure that development standards, policies and procedures are adhered to, and in particular that all code is developed in line with Ocado security best practice guidelines.
• Be prepared to work on different projects and/or rotate through teams according to business needs and/or agreed development objectives

Key Skills:

ESSENTIAL

• Indepth Knowledge of Java programming
• Demonstrate a solid commercial experience developing significant object oriented applications.  
• 2:1 or 1st Degree Computer Science from a top university

DESIRABLE

• J6EE
• JMS
• Glassfish 
• Tomcat
• ActiveMQ
• Oracle

Salary:

 £28,000-£45,000 dependant on experience + Pension, AXA health care, Critical Illness cover, Share Option, Share Save Scheme, 23 days holiday, 15% staff discount + others
