With care, these work!
I echo another reviewers comments - when handled well they do the job. Rather than thinking of them as the equivalent to petrol-based bin liners, think of them as a different kind of product with different rules for engagement. Dont push the rubbish down, dont overstuff to make heavy, take the rubbish out more frequently. And, separate your food waste from your regular waste - that way the bags last longer. We all have to work harder to care for the environment and being lazy by reverting to the same old thing for convenience doesnt help.
Rubbish everywhere
Arse fell out of it - rubbish everywhere. In the bin for a week and a half until full - went to take out of the bin and the top tore off, the bottom also fell out when finally lifted out of the bin. Had to double bag to get outside.
Not fit for purpose
Bag was only half full but ripped, shedding the contents which wasn't pleasant with this warm weather. I wanted to use something that would biodegrade but I thought these would be at least a little stronger.
Shame they are so hopeless
Looking for a bin bag for my 25 L kitchen bin. Food waste goes to the digester, veg waste to the compost bin, so this is just for other stuff. So I thought I’d try these. But they are not really fit for purpose, unless as others have said, you just use them for the lightest and driest of items. The bag splits and tears so easily and I’ve ended up with stuff all over the floor every time. Surely there’s a way of making eco friendly bags more robust? We all know even compostable bags take forever to degrade. A biodegradable bag destined for landfill( as these would be in my case) would be more suitable I think. Everyone is trying to do their best .. I guess there’s no one size fits all answer
Great product if handled right
As other reviewers have stated, great product if not over filled, especially with compostable items and handled with more care. Much better than contributing to more plastic production than is necessary. Am glad Ocado are stocking these regularly as have used them for years.
These do work
As others have said these need more gentle handling than plastic bags and not to be overfilled so the whole household needs to buy into the concept but I certainly think its worth it and havent had any major splits. I think it helps if veg waste etc is going in a compost bin which makes your main rubbish less wet.. Ordering my second roll now.
