History
DOUGLAS GREEN WAS FOUNDED IN 1942. For over 70 years, we have sourced and selected grapes to best express our South African wine land origins. Douglas Green was convinced that the quality and character of the varied vineyards of the Western Cape should not be confined, but rather combined to express the best of each region.
Regional Information
2012 produced vibrant red wines with velvet tannins and good phenolic ripeness as a result of even ripening and a surge of energy soaked up in soaring temperatures in early January. Grapes were selected from the Swartland region for chunky tannins and expressive fruit to compliment the fruit from the Perdeberg area. Hand harvested
Current Vintage
2018
Vinification Details
The wine was fermented for around 7 days at 28°C until dry. The wine was matured with American oak staves and allowed to complete malolcatic fermentation, prior to a further 3 months wood maturation for optimal integration. Final blending and bottling takes place at our cellars in Wellington.
