Product information

Greg Trott saw many dreams realised at Wirra Wirra. Yet one eluded him - building a medieval siege machine, or "trebuchet" to use as a catapult; bombing neighbouring wineries with bottles of fine wine. Since his passing we have honoured the dream, crafting a trebuchet and a wine that symbolize his pioneering spirit. A shiraz that is classic McLaren Vale, yet bright and brimful of possibilities. Just like Trott.

Tasting Notes
The Catapult shiraz is bright and bursting with juicy red fruits. Silky smooth with well balanced tannis, this is a delicious and incredibly drinkable McLaren Vale shiraz
History
The late Greg Trott saw many of his unusual dreams realised at Wirra Wirra. Yet one vision eludedhim - to build a medieval siege machine, or trebuchet. Why? To use as a catapult to bomb neighbouring wineries with bottles of wine of course. This wine is part of a range, the RGT collection which remembers the pioneering spirit of Richard Gregory Trott.
Regional Information
McLaren Vale's favourable climate and geographical factors make it ideal for grape growing and producing regionally distinctive wines year after year. The climate is characterised by warm summers, moderate winters, winter-dominant rainfall. Rain during the harvest period and frost are rare. For the viticulturist this means less likelihood of crop damage and low disease pressure.

Vinification Details
Catapult grapes were fermented separately and each vineyard parcel was tasted twice daily by the winemakers. Once the desired levels of colour, flavour and texture for the Catapult style were achieved, the wine was aged for 9 months in French oak. This ageing maintains a bright, fresh and fruit-driven
style of shiraz.

Good quality red

I’m reviewing this product because I was given a free sample. I shared this bottle with my daughter, we thought it was a very good smooth full bodied wine that went down a bit too easy. My daughter said she would buy it again as she drinks red wine but at full price not so sure

Very Nice Shiraz

‘I’m reviewing this product because I got a free sample from Ocado.’ We really liked this Shiraz we dont often buy an Australian red but this was very drinkable, maybe a little pricey....

Dad really enjoyed it!

I was lucky enough to be given this to review by Ocado. Saved it for a special family meal as it was more expensive than we normally would buy. Dad really enjoyed it, I thought it was smooth but lacked depth, I prefer my Shiraz to have a bit more fruit but if you like drier reds then this is probably for you.

Converted to Red

I was given this wine as a sample from Ocado. I am not normally a red wine drinker, but I suppose quality must make a difference. I liked the mellow taste and I am a definite convert to a good red now. I will be buying again on a special occasion,

Lovely Red!

I’m reviewing this product because I got a free sample from Ocado. What a wonderful opportunity, I love red wine but have never spent this much, we really enjoyed this smooth deep red wine, will be buying one for Christmas, sadly not a regular choice for us at this price.

even better on 2nd day

I was sent this wine by Ocado to try, hence this review. I thought it was very good - and even better after it had been open for a while. I would buy it again and would recommend it to anyone who likes a drier, not too jammy, red wine.
