App-solutely fabulous
August 2010
There’s been a lot of talk about new supermarket apps this week but we were there at the very beginning last summer, launching our award-winning Ocado on the Go iPhone app to further advance the food shopping cause.
Since then we’ve dropped our app onto the Android platform (complete with lots of cool new features) and cool-as-you-like iPad, and things are, we have to say, going rather well. Did you know that 6% of Ocado orders were placed or edited using an iPhone in April? That’s staggering when you think about it.
But then why wouldn’t you open yourself up to a whole new, even more convenient way of grabbing groceries? Shopping with Ocado by smartphone is quick, easy and totally intuitive. Ocado on the Go integrates seamlessly with the Ocado website, allowing you to swap between the two and shop in the way that suits you best. It offers clear product images and info, and doesn’t rely on a constant network signal. The Android app, which arrived in April, does even more – try ‘search by voice’ on for size.
The team at Lady Geek TV definitely knows the score. The latest episode of their popular online show highlights the strides being made by retailers like Ocado to revolutionise supermarket shopping in the 21st century… go check it out.
Times have radically changed over the past 12 months – according to the Independent (August 19) a Google search on ‘grocery shopping’ will return over 100 results for the iPhone and 13 for the iPad. But whilst other retailers find their feet with mobile, we like to think we’re already confidently moving forward with ways in which to make the technology even better for you. There’s undoubtedly much more to come in the future.
If you’re new to all this and feeling adventurous (there’s nothing quite like food shopping in the bus queue, trust me…) then head to The Ocado Way for more info.
Have fun!
Ben
