Football’s coming home

June 2010

Football fever got into full swing this weekend. Despite England’s indifferent start, we’ve still got our fingers (and toes) crossed for a 1966 result!

A few days ago, we released a news story to launch our World Recipe Challenge, showing football really is coming home! It seems 83% of us will be watching the World Cup from the comfort of our homes rather than heading down to our locals.

Maybe it’s because many of us are still worried about the cost of heading out with friends over the coming weeks of the tournament. That’s not so surprising as we discovered that watching World Cup matches down the pub will cost each person on average £63.74 more than staying at home.

Anyway, what with HD TV and the kitchen close at hand, there’s no need to queue for hours at the bar – and miss all the goals!
