Food matters

OCADOLIFE 02 - August 2008

Caring passionately about where our food comes from is part of what makes Ocado tick, and one of the reasons you’ll find such a healthy range of organic produce here. In fact, we’re one of the largest online retailers of organic produce in the world – something we’re incredibly proud of.

From farmer’s field to front door, we go to great lengths to ensure the quality and safety of all our food, and are able to trace every piece of produce we sell back to the farm it came from. And because we only stock quality Waitrose fresh produce, all our meat, eggs and milk are sourced from Soil Association accredited farms that meet the highest standards in quality, safety, environment and animal welfare.

We’ve always backed Fairtrade, the independent guarantee that producers in developing countries receive a fair price for their products. And with over 56% of Ocado orders now containing at least one Fairtrade product, it looks like many of you feel the same way too.

We also make a point of championing the finest seasonal fruit and vegetables throughout the year, and share Waitrose’s commitment to sourcing organic products from within the UK whenever it’s possible and practical to do so.

Last but definitely not least, like biodiesel vans and biodegradable bags, our support for organic farming is an important part of our goal of creating a better, more sustainable way of shopping for the future. Now that’s what we call a taste of the good life!
