The Woodland Trust
June 2010
A short while ago I got talking to the Woodland Trust. As a keen green advocate, their ideas and objectives really impressed me, so this is a quick blog to share with you why I’m championing their cause.
First, a bit of background info: The Woodland Trust was set up in the 1970s in reaction to disappearing woodland across Britain, in particular small woods, spinneys and copses. Much of this woodland was felled during the Second World War, and continues to be under threat from agriculture, development, or the planting of non-native species.
For the Woodland Trust team, the reasoning behind their campaign is clear. Woodland and trees are vital to the health of the planet, generating oxygen and providing rich habitat for wildlife. With the ancient forests and woods of Britain in sharp decline, I agree with them that it’s crucial to act now in order to save this precious heritage.
At Ocado, we decided to help the trust’s work by getting stuck in at their planting days – go to Facebook to see our team hard at work
