Ocado Corporate
Introduction

If you were going to create a revolutionary online grocery business, how would you go about it?
Ideally you would start from scratch, avoiding all the legacy issues of a traditional business. Then you would build a brand new service entirely around your customers' needs. You'd make sure this service delivered Waitrose quality groceries, directly to customers' doors in the most reliable way possible. You'd staff that company with the brightest people in the industry and empower them to look after their customers.
That is exactly what we have tried to do. We do make mistakes but we know we are changing people's habits with the wonderful convenience of being able to get what you want, when you want it. We have built this business to address the needs of busy people in the 21st Century, without compromising on the dedication to customer care and service that people miss from the past.
Ocado was launched in partnership with Waitrose in January 2002 and our service is now available to over 13.5 million households across the South East, the Midlands, the North West and more recently the South Coast. If you register with us we will even contact you when we come to your area. You will almost certainly know someone who has shopped with us. Ask them. Ocado really can make a difference
Background
Ocado was conceived with one simple objective in mind: to offer busy people a true alternative to going to the supermarket every week. And in doing so, we created a totally new shopping experience, built entirely around their needs.
Quality is the key to our approach and it begins with our partnership with Waitrose. Ocado customers receive the fine quality groceries and value for money for which Waitrose is renowned - delivered by a service built for that purpose.
By fulfilling orders from a dedicated warehouse, we can show virtually live inventory on our webshop, enabling customers to choose from a range of groceries that are actually in stock. By using unique logistics software and satellite navigation systems in our vans, we strive to deliver the right goods at the right time.
But what makes us truly different is the quality of our people. Everyone who works at Ocado has a responsibility to find a better way to do things. They use common sense instead of corporate manuals and, in all cases, they care enough to try to make a difference.
