Basic principles of exercise

Consult your GP if you have any doubts about your present state of health.

It is the quality of exercise, not the quantity that counts. You never need to exercise for more than an hour at any given time.

Less is more: more is not better when it comes to exercise, your body gets stronger through recovery & proper nutrition/rest, not through the training itself.

Strength work (resistance training) done with correct technique and perfect body alignment is the core of any exercise program. Muscles which are properly conditioned raise your metabolic rate (calories burned daily) and protect us from injury.

Our physiological age (body composition - fat to muscle ratio) is the only age that really matters.

The definition of fitness is having the highest resistance to illness & injury while having the most energy. When you maximize these factors, you will then look & feel at your best.

When performing strength work, exercise to a point where working slowly through another repetition in perfect form becomes impossible to achieve, in other words, working until failure.

Emotional fitness is equally as important as physical fitness, so however one may address this, be it through religion, meditation, zen etc. we at Fitness Inspiration always say, "Free your mind, and your body will follow."

In our present world, with the current economic situation, and all the other life issues, we need to remember we are our own best asset. We have the ability to determine the path we choose and how we live our lives. Making the right & healthy lifestyle choices are what can empower all of us.
