Wines with altitude. Award winning wines from the rising star of Argentina

A darkly captivating vintage, unravel the mysterious taste that makes 2002 a magical year for vintage

Terrazas background

What is Terrazas?

The red grapes cultivated at the Terrazas de los Andes winery, are considered the best in Mendoza.

The winery, founded in 1898 by Sotero Arizu, one of the forefathers of Argentine winemaking, was discovered by Moet & Chandon in the late 1950s. Moet & Chandon's first vineyard outside France, faces the Cordon del Plata (a section of the Andes Mountain Range) and is named after its tiered terraces sitting at unique altitudes.

The ideal altitude for each wine

Years of research has gone into finding the ideal altitude for each grape variety in order to reach its optimal ripening conditions. The high altitude accounts for the large variation between night and day temperatures, enabling grapes to go through a slower ripening process. This results in increased complexity of fruit and flavour.

Food Pairing

This big wine needs the big flavours of roasted lamb, grilled red meat, venison and maybe pork chops, if the sauce is not too acidic.
