Rosa Ferraioli – Tinned tomatoes

Like many Italians, Rosa Ferraioli is passionate about her regional produce and cuisine. Especially as her family has been tinning tomatoes just outside of Naples since 1954. Today, Rosa works with growers all over Southern Italy, and Puglia in particular, to supply Ocado customers.

Between March, when the farmers sow their seeds, and August, the tomatoes ripen to a gloriously deep, juicy red, ready for picking. It takes just 12 hours for the tomatoes (hand selected by a team of local women) to go from field to tin, ensuring they keep as much of their flavoursome freshness as possible. And to avoid any food waste, the leftover skins go to nearby cattle farmers for feed. So, when it comes to a taste of La Dolce Vita, we think Rosa's got it in the can.
