The Tomato Story

Our Tomato story begins in Puglia, south east Italy. We've been working with Alphonso (our organic tomato supplier) for over a decade because, like us, he has a passion for healthy produce and high quality standards. Working closely together has allowed us to perfect the selection, growing and harvesting of tomato varieties that work best in creating our delicious range of Pasta sauces.

In Spring, the seeds are selected and around 27,000 tomato seedlings are planted during the months of April and May.

As part of the growing process each piece of land, tomato and plant is individually analysed to certify its organic properties. Regular crop rotation helps protect the structure of the soil, keeping it stocked up with vital nutrients.

Alphonso's succulent tomatoes are then harvested and despatched, while still fresh, to become one of the mouth-watering ingredients in our delicious range of Seeds of Change pasta sauces.

Philosophy

We started our organic seed company farm, Seeds of Change ®, with a simple mission: "To preserve biodiversity and promote the use of sustainable organic agricultural practices". Our commitment to this mission is reflected in our charity fund, to which we donate 1% of our net sales.

History

Seeds of Change ® began as a small seed company in 1989 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA. As a group of people we had become incresingly concerned about our environment. We were, and are, concerned about the long-term effects of intensive farming methods on the planet's wonderful biodiversity.
