Surrender to Toro. A powerful Spanish wine that triumphs against the odds
Numanthia background

An heritage of tenacity and resistance

In northwest Spain, near the Portuguese border, lies the small village of Toro, birthplace of Numanthia. Founded in 1998, the estate is named in tribute to Numancia, a town famed for its resistance to Roman occupation. The climate is extreme, the vines are tough and the grapes intense, making for a powerful wine that has been Toro's signature for over 2,000 years.

Wines of power and opulence

Numanthia wine is made from a single grape variety, harvested from vines whose average age is over 50 years. Sometimes called the blackest of grapes, Tinta de Toro, comes from the Tempranillo family and has an intense, complex character. Bunches are big, but the berries are tiny with a deep colour and complex aromas. Today the estate's resilient wines are concentrated and powerful with strong fruity notes and a silky, elegant texture.

Food Pairing

Numanthia with its powerful character and rich tannins stands admirably next to richer slow-cooked meat dishes. To appreciate the full palette of aromas, open 1-2 hours before serving.
