Ara wines (from the Maori for ‘Pathway”) come from one place, a single estate lying at the elevated end of the Wairau Valley in Marlborough. Here the Wairau and Waihopai rivers meet giving us all the beneficial climatic influences that have made the region famous, plus some special advantages that come with our soil types and higher altitude. Bordered by rivers on three sides and easing into the foothills of the Southern Alps on the western edge, 2400 hours of sunshine go into every glass of Pathway.
Blending parcels from across the vineyard, Pathway Pinot Noir combines the savoury and soft tannins of the low yielding vines with the aromatic strawberry and ripe cherry characters from some of Ara’s younger parcels. With a portion of the blend spending six months in French oak barrels, the result is a luscious ripe-berry Pinot Noir with the perfumed elegance that comes from cooler elevated vineyards. A true pleasure from the first glass to the last.

Value

Not a bad Pinot Noir for the price at 11 pounds. Light and fruity, great with pork or chicken.
