Didn't really do the job on stains
It did whiten a little, as evidenced by two socks which got split into different washes - when I held them up together, one was definitely a shade whiter. But overall, I was expecting a real change in whiteness and it didn't do it noticeably. As for stains, it's not up to the job at all. I much prefer spot-treating with Shout, I just wanted to try something that might work on larger areas, as I don't really find any of the existing brands that effective. Was disappointed again. Regardless of soaking, or adding to the wash,no difference. And it made the clothes feel as if they'd been washed in too much detergent, despite using an extra rinse. Won't buy again.

Best in its category
Seemlingly gentler on the washing than other brands, I found this product to be extremely effective - but expensive.

powder is better
tried soaking, tried adding to machine wash - nothing. Vanish crystal white powder is much better and even ariel powder is better.

Moderately effective
I also found the bottle awkward to use, and the stain removal was not brilliant. It's OK, but no more effective than old fashioned blue soap, and considerably more expensive. Incidentally, this comment box is collapsing carriage returns, removing parentheses, and disallowing colons and semi-colons as invalid characters. Help! Help! Ocado is oppressing my pedantry!

Doesn't remove stains made by kids
I made the mistake choosing Ariel over one of the leading brands due to cost - and it was a waste of money. Can't get off food stains on kids foods, it does absolutely nothing. Will have to swallow the cost and revert back to the pricier brand.
