American style syrup
No, this is not maple syrup, but if you are American you will enjoy a taste of home. My kids love it.

Fake but sooo yummy
It does describe itself as pancake syrup rather than maple syrup and it is very good for the occasional treat

Fake syrup
This is NOT maple syrup, and not even golden syrup, but syrup created from regular white sugar with artificial flavours to make people think it's maple syrup. Big seller in the US because it's cheaper than genuine maple syrup, but it's all artificial. Terrible!

too artificial, probably for american tastes...
Just read through the ingredients before you buy it, its barely got a natural ingredient in it. What is sodium hexametaphosphate anyway??? Its not as nice as golden syrup or proper maple syrup. Its obviously something that our US friends are used to having, and enjoy seeing it. I disagree with all the 5-star reviews, which were the reason i bought it. If you know what it is, then you'll probably want it because it is an import from the US... but that doesn't mean it is nicer than the alternatives. If i was over in the US, i'd really like seeing HP sauce or marmite in a shop, but that doesn't mean that they would appeal to american tastes. Go for some proper maple syrup instead, it would be much nicer, have less 'flavorings' 'colors' and preservatives.

This is not meant to be Maple Syrup, but Pancake syrup. We are from Canada and I was paying over the odds for this at other 'premium' stores or paying excess baggage to keep the kids happy. So thank you Waitrose...this is the 'real deal' for most North Americans!
