History
The Baron Herzog brand trace their winemaking origins back nine generations, to Phillip Herzog, who made wine in Slovakia for the Austro-Hungarian court more than a century ago. Phillip's wines were so appreciated by Emperor Franz-Josef that the emperor made Phillip a baron. In 1985, we created Baron Herzog wines, a line of premium yet moderately priced California varietals.

Vinification details
Each grape entering our tank room is treated gently. A de-stemming machine separates every grape from its rachis (stem) to ensure that every flavor in the grape is preserved—just as it was fresh from the vine. This is crucial in preserving the tannins that reside between the skin and pulp of the grape.
