Taste of my childhood!
I thought that they were absolutely delicious and tasted just like the ones that I used to eat years ago. I was surprised by some of the comments on here and think that perhaps they were written by people who had never tried them before.
Surprisingly good given the other reviews.
I wouldn't want them to be any stronger-tasting.
Tasteless
Used to buy these regularly, but just recently they have changed the recipe. They are now slimmy and tasteless. They are anemic and look totally different to the original recipe. We will no longer be buying this again.
Not the same
Im not Jewish but brought up in S.A. And always had viennas and chips after church. The Blooms wurscht and viennas, in the UK, were always delicious in the 70s - they got rid of the frying wurscht and heaven knows what theyve done to the viennas
So salty
Totally horrible slimy and like putting a spoonful of mushy salt in my mouth threw both packs away
What happened to my childhood kosher memories
Being Jewish always used to cost, but the delicatessen Blooms foods were always a treat perfect each time. Living in Middlesbrough it was a trip to Sunderland or Leeds to buy the goods in as a treat family would bring a selection through on visits. We would have whasht and egg , ( salami ) cocktail viennas peas and mashed potato and viennas in buns with pickled Cucumbers. The new look Blooms/Gilbert products look the same but are not the same Salami full of fat and gristle and a ton of SALT which hides most of the flavour. BUT the viennas when cooking grow like made and resemble what looks like doggy do do (forgive me for that but that is how kosher should look ) taste again full of SALT. very sad all the memories of taste and presentation. Now I have my OAP bus pass may have to buy the ither still decent brands from Gateshead. My favorite brand was always Blooms.MEMORIES DISTROYED. Tip for frying the Salami pre slice rub with fresh or garlic granules. SHALOM.
