Very bland
My squash looked fine but had no real flavour, even when roasted. Disappointing

Tasty and long lasting
I've been getting these on a regular basis for a couple of years and they've always been of consistent good quality and last for a long time stored in a cool dark cupboard. Very tasty too.

A regular purchase
As other reviewers, the quality can vary. Usually good, but would be helpful to know where the butternut came from - I've found better quality in the South African ones than in some of the locally sourced ones. Handling does seem to be a big issue - I've also had bruised ones.

Tasty
Had it roasted with some salt, pepper with lemon juice and a sprinke of vanilla power. It was delicious and still sweet.
Recipes
Honeyed Roast Chicken with Cajun Spices
This easy Sunday roast, glazed in honey, is so delicious it doesn't need any extra accompaniments and everything is cooked in one pan.

Spiced pollock, roasted butternut squash and chickpea salad
Pollock hasn’t always been a popular fish, but in fact I love using it with stronger flavours like this spice mix and it holds its flavour well. It is a great alternative to cod and haddock, as we know they are in short supply. By Sophie Michell The chickpeas add protein and complex carbohydrates and the butternut squash is full of beta carotene.

Mini Honeyed Pumpkin Pies
An all American favourite - steamed and pureed pumpkin, or use butternut squash when out of season, subtly flavoured with honey and ground spices then topped with a spoonful of whipped cream and an extra drizzle of honey.

Pumpkin Soup
This pumpkin soup is delicious and warming - perfect for when Winter is approaching. If pumpkins are not in season, why not try substituting this for butternut squash.

Roast Pumpkin, Chilli, and Ginger Dip
Cook's Notes This dip is good with grilled or roasted meats. To make it extra hot, simply add another long chilli.

Varying quality!
Like other reviews, I have had supurb butternuts and turn-to-mush butternuts. I usually keep butternuts at home, out of the fridge, to ripen and sweeten. But after a few turn-to-mush experiences, we'll just have to put up with having our butternut within a few days of purchase - disappointing.
