Surprisingly the more calories the better!
Garden birds use lots of energy in their daily activities. Foods rich in fats and oils will contain high calorie levels and it is these calories that provide them with the energy they need to breed, survive and thrive throughout the year.
So when it comes to bird food, the higher the calories, the better for your birds!

Everybody loves these
Finches, tits, nuthatches, robins -- everybody loves these seeds!
Birds love them
These are wolfed down by birds large and small in my garden. They are very popular with them and seem very good quality.
great value when on offer
Massive bag which is great for the price (when on offer) bought to entice the little robins and blue tits back to my garden. Waiting for them to discover it, but I only put it out yesterday so I'm sure they will soon be back and demolishing it v soon.
Birds LOVE these...
These have transformed my garden. I now have a pair of Nuthatches, a Bullfinch, a pair of Chaffinch, flocks of Goldfinches and untold numbers of Coal and Blue Tits...They LOVE these. I'm refilling everyday. Have ditched standard bird food altogether. Same goes for fat balls - switched to the Peckish Nuggets and the Long Tailed Tits swarm on the feeder. Well worth the extra cost. Highly recommend.
Great quality
Bought these all last winter and now for the last few weeks this winter too. They're always excellent quality and the birds LOVE them. Stock up when they're on offer!
Birds come flocking for more
These are the first things to go amongst my various seed and nut feeders, the birds eating them in preference to all the other stuff on offer and appearing, Hitchcock-like, as I'm refilling the feeder so they can get started the moment I shut the front door. They are expensive, but smell fresher and more 'sunflowery' than other sunflower hearts I have bought, and you don't get the mess of discarded sunflower husks under the feeder which can harbour mites. A variety of birds are attracted to them, but be careful were you put the feeder or the wood pigeons will scoff the lot.
