Canadian red spring wheat flour produces a very strong dough with exceptional pliability and texture, due to its superior gluten and protein levels. These characteristics make it highly desirable for both bread and pasta making. Suitable for hand baking and bread machines, it results in bread with exceptional texture, flavour and keeping qualities.

Instructions

Simple White Loaf
Makes: one large loaf
You will need:
600g Very Strong Canadian White Bread Flour
7g sachet easy-blend dried yeast
1 1/2 tsp sea salt
400ml tepid water
1. Mix together the flour, yeast and salt.
Add the water and mix with a round bladed knife to make a soft dough.
2. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
3. Pat the dough into a rectangular shape and drop into a greased 900g loaf tin. Cove with lightly greased cling film and leave to rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour. Towards the end of proving time, preheat the oven to 220°C, gas mark 7.
4. Bake in the centre of the oven for 35 minutes until golden. Tip out and tap the underside with your knuckles. It should sound hollow. If not, return to the oven (out of the tin) for a little longer. Cool on a wire rack. Wrap and store for up to 2 days or freeze for a month.

Makes fantastic bread

Wonderful taste and texture. Lovely just as bread, even better as toast. I use a bread- maker and with this flour it makes white bread as good as hugely expensive loaves from fancy bakeries.

If you make bread at home either with a machine or by hand you will find this extra strong flour makes a noticeably superior result.

Made the best bread ever

Very tasty for a white loaf, easy to knead and came out perfectly every time. I followed the recipe on the packet but double proved it, rather than just putting it straight into the tin. Never had so many compliments so shall be buying again for sure!

Fantastic flour

I have been making my own bread by hand for over 20 years and this is a real discovery. The flour is milled very fine and after kneading the dough is incredibly silky. It makes very light and tasty breads. I have tried all the other hard flours from Ocado and this is the best, with the exception of the Bacheldre Strong White which is not stocked here. Very much recommended.
