Perfect

I don't have any of the problems mentioned in recent reviews - it always works for me and works well. I really like it because I can just seal the packet after use, and there's none of the loss that happens with the silly little sachets you get in most cases.

Used to be good

Like other reviewers, I used to love this yeast and it gave great results with my breadmaker. But in the last few months, it hasn't worked at all - flat loaves or very uneven rise. Having tried replacing the flour without success, I swapped to Allinson yeast and have had no problems at all.

Something is up with this

I used this for a year or more in our bread machine, results were superb. Then I started getting flat tops, poor rises, stodgy bases. I changed the flour, same thing. I threw the remains of the bag of yeast away, which I keep sealed in the fridge once opened, and started a new one, same thing. So I tried a different yeast, Allinson, and hey presto, back to first class loaves again. Judging from other recent reviews on this, I would say something has gone wrong with it.

Excellent yeast.

I have been using this yeast for a few years now. I bake a loaf every 3 days. I use 4g of yeast to 400g bread flour. Once opened, the packet is tightly sealed with a bag clip and kept in the fridge. My loaves are lovely - I don't use a bread maker. A packet will last for 3 months. I have even used it straight from the freezer with perfect results.

Just terrible

I'm a chef of 20 years and an experienced bread baker and I just cannot get a decent rise out of this yeast. I'm having to add three times the stated quantity to get any kind of rise, and even then the loaves are flat and wide. Won't bother again.

Doves Farm Kamut Khorasan Bread

Doves Farm Kamut Khorasan Bread

Kamut Khorasan flour was originally grown for the pharaoahs in Egypt. It is an ancient wheat variety, naturally high in protein and minerals. With a creamy coloured crumb, you could be forgiven for forgetting this is a wholegrain loaf. Kamut flour sometimes requires more liquid than wheat flour so adjust the water if necessary to ensure the dough is not too stiff.
