Checked the packaging for "Economy" label !

Very fatty and closer to streaky than back bacon. Truly checked the packaging to see whether I had bought "economy" bacon in error.

Not so good anymore

I used to love this bacon but in recent months the quality has deteriorated, due to the high water content.

Seems to be varying in quality now

This has been consistently good taste and relatively low amount of fat. However the last pack we had recently May 2011 was very streaked with large amounts of fat non-streaky bacon and also tasted very rank even though well within date. Totally different quality - maybe someone wanted to get rid of an old pig! As with many other items, quality and amounts are going worse. If this keeps up I'll be finding a different supplier.

USED to love this...

I am writing this because I have stopped ordering this item. The packaging has been revamped, and looks posher. Great! But the product has deteriorated. Firstly, over several months the slices seem to be considerably thinner. And secondly my last two packs the fat has pretty much accounted for two thirds of the rasher. I don't eat/use the fat in the cooking so after cutting the very thick (not streaky, but pure fat) off I am left with tiny, tiny bacon medallion. Doesn't go far in a family pasta meal for 4. Whilst I appreciated that every pig is different....I am now so disappointed wiith this item that I may as well just go over to the essential range.
