Dermatologists also recommend E45 Emollient Wash Cream instead of soap for washing more serious dry skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis and ichthyosis.
Directions:
Adults and Children: Shake bottle. Apply to wet skin on the face, hands or body. Massage gently then rinse off with water. If using before bathing or showering, take care not to slip. Gently pat skin dry with a towel.

Hand wash?
It doesn't feel like a hand wash at all - it's more of a hand cream. I am not even sure it cleans hands. It leaves a creamy layer on the hands, half of which gets removed by the towel when you dry them. It works in keeping them soft though!

Extremely moisturising and gentle
My 9 year old son gets dry skin in winter and finds normal soap irritating. We use this for his face and neck and it's more like a moisturiser than a normal soap. Works brilliantly, but it does leave a residue in the sink as its so creamy. Use in small amounts!

Good for dry skin
I use several E45 products to keep on top of my son's mild eczema. This wash feels sort of weird, more like moisturizer than soap but it does the job.

Don't bother
Tried this as I couldn't buy my usual. It's not good, it makes the bath slippy and made my skin sore. Because it doesn't foam there is the temptation to want to use more. Non of my family got on with it, no one I know wanted to try it so it ended up in the bin. I only gave this one star for value, it is cheap but not if it ends up in the bin.

Effective
If only the kind reviewers would bother to read what the product is for?! The last reviewer somehow managed to understand that this is a handwash?! Anyway, this is meant for those that suffer from moderate to severe dry skin conditions. It does really help. It won't lather like your average soap but it doesn't need to as you will recall from your 8th grade science class that soaps generally have a lathering agent added to them which doesn't have anything to do with the effectiveness of the soap. On the contrary makes it more natural and less irritating for the skin. I generally use a shower gel followed by the E45 shower cream.
