Cooking instructions please

I totally understand that a joint like this should be cooked slowly, and it would be really helpful if Waitrose/Ocado put cooking instructions on the packaging, and not just advice to look them up on the web! The joint I was sent was quite small and even at a low heat, in a fan oven it became overdone quite quickly. I enjoyed it more the next day when it was cold.

Family of 4 loved it

Had it for our roast one week and it was enjoyed by all. No complaints.

Tasteless and gristley

This was the worst lamb I have ever had. Tasteless and full of gristle.

Great - But Cook it Properly

I agree with the other reviewer, If you cook this the same way as a leg of lamb, it will not be good. I put this in at 220c for 30 mins, then turned it down to about 160c and cooked it for about another 2.5 - 3 hrs for a joint weighing just under 1.5kg when boned. It will also need to rest before you carve it for about 20 mins. Try it this way and you might be very suprised, some garlic and rosemary slither's here and there won't go a mis

Cook it right and its fabulous!

well, I dont know how the disparaging reviewers cooked their lamb to get bad results but if they had done it long and slow they would have got a truly fabulously delicious meal!

Roast lamb with rosemary, garlic and anchovies

Roast lamb with rosemary, garlic and anchovies

This is a lovely way to season a roast lamb. Rosemary and garlic impart a distinctive aroma, while the anchovies add a salty, savoury depth to the meat. Accompany with new potatoes or roast potatoes with rosemary.

Slow-braised Lamb with Cherries and Saffron

This is a useful recipe to have at any time of year. It's quick to assemble, looks after itself in the oven and can be made ahead and frozen.

While we have taken care in preparing this summary and, to the best of our knowledge, believe it is accurate you should note that the summary product information (in particular the "Other Information" section) may change between the time you place your order on the website and the time your order is delivered (in this regard we rely on our suppliers to tell us of any changes in a timely manner so we can update our website). For example, as all meat and fish products are naturally farmed, there may be occasions when due to weather conditions we may need to source from alternative approved sources (and hence the product origin may change). You also need to be aware that for those service counter goods where we offer additional preparation services (ie removal of the head and tail of a fish or for a rack of lamb to be cut into cutlets), the price will be calculated based on the weight of the whole fish before the head and tail have been removed and the lamb rack before it has been cut into cutlets, should you request this service. The receipt and product label you receive will also show the actual weight of the whole fish and/or lamb rack (before the head and tail of the fish has been removed and the lamb rack has been cut into cutlets).
