Jose Manuel Pinedo

On the route of the `Pueblas Blancas in Andalucia, Arcos de la Frontera is considered to be one of the most beautiful towns in Spain. The area is generally associated with Sherry production, but in fact has a long forgotten tradition of making red wines, with records dating back to the 14th century.

Regional Information

The site in Arcos de la Frontera was chosen for its variety of soil types and higher altitude, and the resulting variation between night and daytime temperatures needed for controlled maturation of the fruit. The altitude, vineyard slopes and year-long sunshine produce grapes with intense concentration and aromas, and the tannins needed for ageing.

Current Vintage

Vinification Details

The grapes were pressed and macerated before being fermented in stainless steel vats. The wine was then transferred to young American and French oak barrels where it underwent malolactic fermentation and then aged for 9 months before blending and bottling.

lovely, very powerful

Agree with other customers that this needs to breathe for some time before drinking. Very full and heavy, very nice when paired with the right food.

Rating: 5 star out of 5

Powerful and interesting

Powerful 14.5% ABV red wine produced and bottled by the distinguished bodega Gonzalez Byass of Jerez, better known for sherries. Bottled in the traditional way on its lees, so best leave it to settle for a few weeks before opening and decanting.

Dryer than the Moon...

... but don't let that put you off. Superb value at £10.

Extremely good

A very enjoyable wine that shows why Spanish wine can offer exceptional value. Much punchier than your average Bordeaux and certainly a full-bodied wine. Worth the £14 it costs and more after 1-2 hours' decanting. Will hit the spot for Parkerites and enthusiasts of the "modern" style of wine.

Wouldn't normally pay this much, but for a special occasion it's unsurpassable. Really complex and flavoursome
