Extremely Irresponsible
Was very unimpressed and quite shocked that at the height of the English asparagus season these are being air-frieghted in from Thailand. They were very anaemic looking and although they didnt taste too bad, I ate them with a guilty conscience. Perhaps Waitrose is less committed to local, seasonal produce than meets the eye.

Great - but not British
These tips from Thailand were a substitute for British asparagus. The product description shows the country of origin varies according to season. Without rifling through the whole delivery, it was impossible to tell where they were from. Will buy seasonal products locally in future

great for asian cooking
I know they aren't english, but they are almost like a different vegetable to the english in season ones. Lovely and crunchy and due to their firmness work really well in stir fries. They really need a different name as taste completely different. We buy regularly for thai and chinese dishes
