Fivemiletown Creamery is a farmer owned co-operative. For over a hundred years our master cheesemakers have been using the purest milk, from our herds that roam the lush pastures of the Clogher Valley, to make our award winning cheeses.
Only our finest cheddars are selected to become Oakwood after maturing for up to 6 months. Our oak logs are sustainably foraged from the local Forest and then slowly smouldered to release rich plumes of smoke that impart a gentle smoky flavour and robust aroma. The blend of creamy nutty cheddar and rich oaky smokiness penetrates to the heart of the cheese and is unique to each batch.

The smoky note of Oakwood is well paired with a Paul Blanck Pinot Noir Alsace 2009 as its delicious flavours of deep berries, blackcurrants and raspberries compliment the creamy nuttiness of the Oakwood.

worse smoked cheese ever eaten
Well the title says it all tasteless and with a rubbery feel not nice at all.

Tastes of rubber
Very poor. Why make a product so bad? Waste of time. Tastes awful and leaves disgusting after taste.

Not bad! But the packaging ...
I found that this cheese was smoked to perfection - so many smoked cheeses nowadays are oversmoked and take away the flavour of the cheese itself. I agree about the packaging. Although the weight of the cheese is clearly marked on the box, I feel that the size of the box was too large and therefore wasteful. My worse gripe is regarding the plastic wrapping though. It is impossible to remove it without damaging the cheese - not good if you want to display it on a cheeseboard. I don't like to see cheese wrapped to tightly in plastic, as that is what makes it sweat and gives it a 'rubbery' texture.

Rubbery texture, 'fake' flavour
This cheese is really disappointing. It has a very rubbery texture and the smoked flavour tastes really fake, despite apparently being properly smoked. Also the packaging is very thick plastic, making it difficult to get into without damaging the cheese. Avoid - there are better smoked cheddars available.
