Prepare & Use

Cooking Instructions - General. For best results grill from frozen. Size and thickness of fish may vary, cook times are given as guidance, please note that larger thicker pieces may take longer to cook. Check that food is piping hot, if not, heat for a further brief period. Do not reheat once cooled. Preparation: Wash hands, all surfaces and utensils after touching raw fish.; Grill - From Frozen. Medium heat - 10-14 mins.
Preheat grill. Remove all packaging. Place mackerel on lightly greased oil before placing under a medium grill. Turn halfway through cooking. Heat until thoroughly cooked.; Shallow Fry - From Frozen. Medium heat - 10-12 mins.
Remove all packaging. Heat 1 tsp of vegetable oil in a frying pan. Place the frozen mackerel fillets skin side down into the pan. Cook over a medium heat turning halfway through cooking. Serve immediately.

the best 'fresh' mackerel away from the seaside

Living in land-locked Oxford, I find it difficult to get really fresh mackerel, which needs to be eaten as soon after landing as possible. This product is a great alternative, and a frozen fillet emerges crisp and succulent from under the grill in 10 minutes. Perfect!

this product makes the best barbecue food, even for the most committed meat eater. No need to prepare, straight out of the box onto the barbecue and a few minutes later, delicious.

Delicious - Rich but Light

I cannot understand why fresh mackerel isn't more popular. It is delicious & these fillets - really very good value with 5 well sized ones in my pack - demonstrate flavour well - creamy, very fishy but, being an oily fish, rich and almost buttery but light & with the softest texture. I pan fried very simply in a little olive oil & seasoned well with salt & pepper & a good squeeze of lemon, just at end to make most of juices.
