A British classic with a modern twist. We've updated the reliable bloomer with a healthy, hearty mix of malted grain flour and sweet sunflower seeds.
Dark and nutty, crunchy and delicious, this is a million miles away from the average floppy slice of plastic-wrapped granary.
About GAIL's
GAIL's believes in the art of honest breadmaking. We start with just four simple ingredients: flour, water, salt and yeast, and we never add artificial colours or flavours. Instead, we seek out the best ingredients from where they're best, whether it's hand-peeled Bramley apples from Britain, single source unsalted butter from France, or plump juicy olives from Mediterranean groves. All our loaves are made by hand too, so we never need to add the stabilisers and preservatives that are an unavoidable fact of industrialised bread.
Our selection of classic and globally-inspired artisanal breads includes a range of sourdoughs made from 15-year old wild yeast starters. Allowed to rise slowly and naturally, these loaves take 48 hours to make and possess a mature taste and character that a mechanically processed loaf couldn't hope to match.

Would be very tasty if it had arrived fresh
I have ordered various Gails breads from Ocado as I have been to their bakery in Hampstead and love their bread and cakes. Unfortunately the bread always arrives dry and feeling at least one day old. I stuck with this for a few deliveries, tried different breads and different delivery days, but was always disappointed and will definitely not buy Gails bread from Ocado again.

Really disappointing
Our loaf came in a Monday evening order and by Tuesday morning it was so hard as to be just about inedible! I love homemade bread and am quite happy to chew my way through all sorts of worthy looking loaves but this really was too crusty for anyone else in the family to eat and even I didn't enjoy the challenge. Ended up as very expensive breadcrumbs for the freezer!

Real bread
Not for the faint hearted this is real bread and it is fantastic, yes it is hard, yes it has to be eaten fresh and if you are used to the stuff that passess for bread that is sold most of the time you might not like it, but we cannot get it enough!

Only bought as Hovis Granary was out of stock. Would never buy again. The bread looked lovely but was stale within a day. The cost of the loaf is ridculously high.

Outstanding when they get it right
Agree with all comments above - this is a fantastic product, tastey and what bread should be like - but problem is it needs to be eaten fresh out of the oven. Difficult to achieve when it ,at best, travels half across the country and in overnight storage before it gets to your door. I have had it fresh but it needs to be eaten within a day of purchase. Notice that it has been out of stock recently -so presume Ocado are listening to consumers and discussing with Gayle how to improve consistency of quality. Price wise v expensive but I treat is as a luxury item that when they get it right is outstanding
