Beef Rib Joint

Lovely Beef Joint - I cooked it as per another customers recommendations - 130' for 3 hours and then 190' for a further 30 minutes - it was full of flavour and so tender - thoroughly enjoyed our roast.

Lovely bit of beef.

I'm not Kosher myself, but we had some Kosher friends over for Sunday lunch and decided to try this beef. It was really convenient being able to get it delivered, as there aren't really any kosher butchers around us. Having not cooked with Kosher meat before, I was a little bit wary because of some of the negative reviews here. But I gave it a try, and it came out really nicely. I cooked it for slightly less than the recommended time (but otherwise as per the instructions), and allowed it 20 minutes to stand in a warm place before serving, and it was lovely, Moist and flavourful. There was enough there to serve five people. My friends have said that, in general, kosher meat should be cooked for longer at a lower temperature than regular beef - so it stays nice and juicy.

I should have read the reviews before buying this - but I cooked it as per the instructions on the pack with carrots and onions, and seasoned with black pepper and salt and also added garlic, covered it in foil and used a meat thermometer which I always find is helpful. I went to cut this meat and instantly I knew it was tough - like cutting an old leather boot. It tasted like an old leather boot as well! - bland and uninteresting. Will never buy this cut of meat again - oh dreadful.

Lovely roast beef

My family tried this joint today - it was excellent. I followed the suggestions from an earlier reviewer and cooked it for 3 hours at 130C and then turned the heat to high 190C, for a further 30 minutes whilst I cooked the roast potatoes. A good joint and I would buy it again.

My family found this delicious. Thought I wd give this a try as the price was v competitive. I think those reviewers who found it tough were cooking it too quickly. I cooked it v slowly at just 120 to 140 and then about 10 mins before we were going to eat it I turned up the oven to high to crisp it a bit. This left it cooked all the way through and slightly pink in the middle. We loved the taste. As far as I'm aware there's no salt added so any salty flavour is natural salt which does you no harm. It't the plain sodium chloride - added salt which is bad for you. Yes there's some fat on top but as long as you cook the meat the right way up with the fat on top it makes the meat even more delicious and all the latest research shows that natural Saturated fat - not transfats - of this type are v.good for you. Your brain is made of cholesterol so a high healthy fat diet may keep away Alzheimers etc. It's now being questioned in medical circles as to whether this type of healthy fat contributes to heart disease at all.
