Far too much heavy pastry
The pastry is very heavy & thick and there far too much of it for one pasty. The filling is tasty, better than others, but the pasty ruins it all.

Horrible chalky pastry
Far too big a proportion of dry semi-inedible over -loury pastry to moderately OK filling. Expensive and disappointing. Buy Ginsters instead if you want to be able to eat the pastry.!

Better than average
Quite a nice pasty with a good amount of filling that is evenly spread and which you can taste the onions that you may not with many other pastries. The filling tastes nicer than the ones by Ginsters & even the freshly made ones by Greggs but the that lets it down is the crimped edge of the pastry which is just all very thick pastry (not hollow, hence being crimple) and I find I cannot eat this part of the pastry and so has to be wasted. Would have been better for Waitrose to put filling into the edge as well, for this reason I'd only give it 4 stars.

Nice shortcrust pastry
I like all these Waitrose pasties very much, especially the thick comforting pastry at the edge. It is not easy to find good shortcrust pastry these days. It is too often greasy and flaky, or thin and biscuity.
