Prepare & Use

Preparing the feed

Please follow preparation and feeding instructions carefully; failure to do so may make your baby ill.

1. Wash hands and sterilise all equipment following the manufacturer's instructions.
2. Boil freshly run water and leave to cool for 30 minutes. Do not use artificially softened or repeatedly boiled water.
3. Measure the required amount of water into a sterilised bottle (referring to the Feeding Guide).
4. Using the scoop provided add the correct number of scoops of powder - 1 level scoop of powder to each fluid ounce of water (approx 30ml). Level off the powder with the back of a clean dry knife, do not press the powder.
5. Place the sterilised teat and cap on the bottle and shake well until all the powder has dissolved (approx 15 seconds).
6. Cool to drinking temperature (approx 37°C) by holding the bottle under cold running water. ALWAYS test the temperature of the milk before feeding.

Feeding Guide (1 scoop = approx 4.7g powder)
Amount of Water: 5fl oz, 150ml. Number of scoops of powder: 5 scoops
Amount of Water: 6fl oz, 180ml. Number of scoops of powder: 6 scoops

Babies from 6 months onwards need about 1 pint (600ml) of HiPP Organic Follow On Milk per day, either as a drink, on cereals or added to other foods. However this is only a guide and your baby may need more or less than this. If you require more advice, please consult your health professional.

Important Feeding Information:
-Only use the scoop provided in the pack
-Do not make feeds weaker or stronger than indicated by adding extra water/scoops, and do not add anything else to milk feeds
-For hygiene reasons, always freshly prepare feeds and do not prepare in advance. Use made up feeds within 2 hours of preparation. Discard anything leftover at the end of the feed.
-Do not heat feeds in a microwave, hot spots may occur which could cause scalding
-A responsible person should be with your baby during feeding.
-Please clean your baby's teeth regularly
-Introduce a cup or beaker as soon as possible to prevent prolonged/frequent contact of teeth with milk feeds which may increase the risk of tooth decay
-Use sachet within 3 weeks of opening.

Only milk with NO added "other" sugars.

I chose this milk for my baby when I realised that all the other milks had 7,3g (on average) of EXTRA added sugar, on top of the 7,3g of lactose sugar. A whopping 14,6g of sugar per 100ml, close to 4 tea spoons of sugar. My baby now is drinking close to 200 ml of milk 5 times a day equivalent to close to 40 teaspoons of sugar a day!! Not to mention that the one I was using before contained fructose which turns up to be bad for the liver. HIPP Organic only has 7,1g of lactose sugar for every 100ml. I thought mums should be aware of this.

best formula milk on the UK market

1\ the only one that is organic 2\ no taurine in it 3\ best taste ever ( I tried all of them!) 4\ no weird ingredients you do not came across in the past 5\ two bags of milk instead of one massive pot = more hygienic those are the five positive points I found important to highlight.. bad part is the packaging... but it is not a drama neither... once opened, I use a metallic clipper (the office one to put together papers in a bundle!!)... I fold the bag twice at top and press the pegg on it. did it from day one and NEVER had a single problem.

great milk

I've given both my boys this milk and have found it great in complimenting the weaning stage. Originally bought another brand but the smell made me feel sick and was not happy about feeding it to my two, so did some research and ask friends which brought me to start using hipp and haven't looked back! I can see why some have said negative comments about the packaging but personally I like it-the 2 pouches is good for freshness, there is little rubbish at the end and the box can be recycled.

Absolutely terrible packaging

Baby is happy enough with it, but likes Aptamil as well, but the packaging is atrocious. By far the worst on the market. the sachets don't re-seal, then the powder ends up all over the place and the box when you level the scoop, so lots of powder wasted. Cheapest for a reason.

More than good stuff

First baby, healthy appetite, exclusively breast fed until 7mths so when I needed to move her over to formula before I returned to work I did my home work. It seems most companies, SMA, Aptamil, HIPP etc all do a lot of research and have years of experience with developing formulas. I went with this because the research focus HIPP had was key, their sourcing of organic ingredients seemed better and my nutritional academic background has taught me how valuable pre and pro biotics are so I wanted my daughter to benefit from this benefit of HIPP baby milks. I was also convinced by the quality of their fruit pots and other foods too which genuinely seemed better quality and tasting than some others. Not cheap but worth it, she loves it and is very healthy on it. Not a sickly baby and made the transition to this milk very well....no sickness, gas, reflux but maybe that's just her?!
