Product Description

Jackson Estate Pinot Noir 2012

Jackson Estate embodies the very best of Marlborough New Zealand. Jackson Estate is a special place, a testament to the vision and determination of the Stichbury and Jackson families who have farmed on the Wairau River plain at Jacksons Road for more than 160 years.
Since planting our first Pinot Noir pioneering vineyards two decades ago, time, tide and fortune have smiled on Jackson Estate, and the unparalleled affinity between Marlborough & Pinot Noir has been spectacularly realised.

The acclaim Jackson Estate Pinot Noir generates is based entirely on the merit of our mature, cool climate vineyards. This wine is an expression of our beloved Pinot Noir. It is idiosyncratically New Zealand in style: true to vineyard, region and variety. This wine is named for our families, often forgotten at vintage whilst we strive to make the perfect bottle of Pinot Noir.

Tasting Notes

Concentrated aromas of red and black forest fruits dominate combined with dried herbs and spicy cedar notes. The flavour profile is savoury and spice, rich and ripe without losing precise Pinot Noir detail. Tannins are moderate but integrated.

History

Jackson Estate embodies the very best of Marlborough, New Zealand, the essence of fine wine. Jackson Estate is a special place, a testament to the vision and determination of the Stichbury and Jackson families who have farmed the land on the Wairau River plains at Jacksons Road for more than 160 years. This wine is named for our families, often forgotten at vintage whilst we strive to make the perfect bottle of Pinot Noir.

Regional Information

The acclaim Jackson Estate generates is based on the merit of its soils, mature, cool climate vineyards and wine making style. High sunshine hours maximise fruit concentration; a long, dry growing season enables aroma accumulation and even ripening. Cool nights retain high acidity in the grapes, allowing the wines to age well. This wine is an expression of our beloved Pinot Noir. It is idiosyncratically New Zealand in style: true to vineyard, region and variety.

Vinification Details

Each parcel of handpicked fruit is gently destemmed into small open top fermenters, retaining a large proportion of whole berries. The young wine spends a few weeks on its skins before being pressed to a mixture of new and older French oak barrels for maturation. The wine is then bottled without fining or filtration.
