Recipes
Light mouthfuls of soft, citrus flavoured filling, encased in crisp filo layers.
Ingredients
6 Jus-Rol filo pastry sheets, unwrapped and covered with a damp tea towel
250g ricotta cheese
50g ground almonds
25g citrus peel, chopped
1 tsp caster sugar
1 tsp orange zest, grated
100g butter, melted
Icing sugar to dust
Method
1 Preheat the oven to 180°C (160°C in a fan oven) Gas mark 4.
2 Place the ricotta cheese in a bowl with the almonds, citrus peel, sugar and zest. Mix together until evenly blended.
3 Place 6 sheets of filo pastry on a board. Cut into a rectangle 40cm x 20cm (8inx16in) then cut in half across the width, to make 20cm (8in) squares. Cover with a damp tea towel.
4 Lay 2 filo squares on the board, brush with melted butter and lay the second sheet on top, brushing well with butter.
5 Divide the filling into 6 portions and place one portion in the centre of the pastry. Draw all the corners into the centre including the sides, to create a purse shape. Press well together to seal. Open out the top leaves of pastry and brush all over with butter. Place on the buttered baking tray.
6 Repeat to make 5 more purses, space evenly apart on the baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Make sure the tops do not over brown.
7 Cool on a wire rack and dust with icing sugar.

why oh why...
do ocado no longer separate out frozen goods. this was defrosted by the time I got to it (no idea if it came that way) so went straight in the bin.
Solid product, easy to use
I didn't have any issues with this becoming fragile or drying out, my recipe and maybe the packaging says to cover it with a damp dish cloth while you are working and that did it for me. Nothing special about the taste, but now special can you make flour and water! Solid product I'd say
Good on Pie
We used these to make a simply cook Chicken Filo pie - tasty dish
Not bad!
Needs to be left out for a while to fully thaw. I found the sheets easy to pull apart, maybe a few tears here and there but fine for a fish pie topping! You do need to brush on some oil or melted butter between layers for texture and flavour.
horrid - ruined the meal
The sheets didnt feel right when I took them from the box. Some were stuck together so badly I couldnt separate. When cooked they were heavy and horrid! Have used other brands in the past and never had those problems - not impressed!
Good product
