100% Chardonnay grown around the tiny village of Aze, north west of Macon in southern Burgundy.
The white wines from Macon are dry, crisp and fresh with fruity hints of pear and green apple. This example also has a touch of minerality and a long refreshing finish. No oak has been used in the production of this wine which serves to enhance the vibrant fruit character.

Lacking Burgundian character
To be clear, I have the 2009 vintage here, which has been in my cellar for a year or two. Aroma is rather subtle, although pleasantly fresh and minerally. Buttery, nutty, apply flavour. Acceptable length. A touch sharp and lacking the expected Burgundian clarity of flavour.
