Recipes
1 pack of M&S Shortcrust Pastry
400g butternut squash
Olive oil
Salt & pepper
1 red onion
1 red/orange pepper
80g goat's cheese
8 cherry tomatoes
2 medium eggs
300ml single cream
Sprig of fresh thyme
1. Preheat oven to 220°C/ Fan 200°C/Gas mark 6.
2. Chop butternut squash into chunks, drizzle with oil and season on a baking tray and leave to one side.
3. Line a pie dish with pastry, leaving a 1cm overhang and blind bake using baking paper and baking beans/rice. Place in the oven, along with the tray of butternut squash, and bake both for 20 minutes.
4. While these are cooking, slice and chop the onions, peppers, goat's cheese and half the tomatoes.
5. Once the 20 minutes is up, remove both the pastry and the butternut squash from the oven, leaving the butternut squash to cool.
6. Remove the baking beans/rice from the pastry and bake for a further 15 minutes. While waiting whisk the cream and eggs together.
7. After 15 minutes remove pastry from oven and leave to cool. Once cooled, fill with the vegetables and goat's cheese then pour the egg mixture in and top with the tomatoes and thyme.
8. Bake in the oven for 35-40 minutes or until set.

Very good pastry but ...
I recommend that you ignore the cooking instructions and brush with egg then cook on 200C fan for 3O minutes then you'll have lovely pastry.
Dry
I found this pastry to be a little thick, flavourless and dry.

Can’t understand negative reviews. Just made mince pies tastes better than pastry from several other supermarkets
too sweet
Brought this as my usual pastry was out of stock and really wished I hadnt. Made some sausage rolls which were too sweet, the pastry was quite hard and they took a lot longer to cook
this is not pastry, its cardboard
Wish I had read the list of ingredients before I bought this. Completely ruined my goats cheese tartlets and lemon tart. Cooking instructions are ridiculous unless you like burnt toast. Make your own or buy something that contains butter.
lovely
I used this for the base of a family chicken and mushroom pie, came out golden and crispy- very nice!
