Product Information

Keep in a cool, dark place.

Prepare & Use

Cooking Instructions:
Oven Bake: Preheat oven. Wash the potatoes well. Dry and prick the skin with a fork. Place directly onto an oven shelf and bake for 1-1½ hours or until the skin is crisp and the flesh tender.
Oven Roast: Preheat oven. Peel and wash, then cut the potatoes into even-sized pieces. Part boil for 10 minutes. Drain then shake the pan to roughen the surfaces of the potatoes. Heat 4 tbsp of vegetable oil in a roasting tin. Add the potatoes and turn in the hot oil. Bake on the top shelf of the oven for 45-50 minutes, until golden brown and crispy. Turn occasionally.
Fry: Peel and cut into chips. Wash and dry thoroughly. Fry in preheated oil at 190°C for 5-6 minutes. To mash. Peel and cut the potatoes into even sized pieces. Place in a pan with just enough water to cover, add salt if desired and bring to the boil. Cover and simmer for 20-25 minutes or until tender. Drain well and mash with a little butter and milk, or some crème fraiche together with some freshly ground pepper

Maris Pipers - no longer mushy!

Yup, sadly I would agree with all the September 2011 re-viewers who said they had bad and extremely smelly potatoes within a few days of delivery, but this month - November things have improved and provided I release them from the plastic bag immediately I have had no further problems - well done Ocado I reckon you've sorted out the glitch!

Rotten potatoes

I hate to give a bad review, as I love Waitrose and I love Maris Pipers, but the bag which I ordered was extremely disappointing, with potatoes actually rotten.

Never had a problem personally

I keep these in the garage and have not had a problem, apart from a few mouldy ones after keeping them for a fortnight. Maybe not best to keep in the fridge. Makes lovely roast potatoes.

What a shame as this is a good variety for all sorts of cooking, but the last bag was wet and mushy and smelt dreadful. I took all the potatoes out, threw away the mushed ones, washed and dried all the rest. But there were still bad within 3 days. I thought it was a one-off but after looking at the reviews here, Waitrose really need to sort out their supplier.
