History

The Cave des Vignerons de Buxy was created in 1931 by determined Cote Chalonnaise winegrowers to make and sell their wine together. 120 families work the plantings that make up this vineyard. The grouping of the many family plantings, all inspired by the same values of solidarity and passion, resulted in the creation of advanced production facilities geared towards the demands of the market.

Regional Information

The Montagny 1er Cru vineyards are located in an intermediary area and often grow up to the top of the slopes. The altitude of the vineyards ranges between 240 and 385 metres. These vines are located in Montagny on an amphitheatre made of hills. The hillsides are composed of calcareous clay, with a high limestone content. The terrain is brittle and rich in rocks and pebbles.

average wine

Too acidic, and very short

Indifferent

I can't speak to the earlier vintages reviewed here but the 2013 I purchased was very bland.

just ok

I agree with the 3 star review below. Wouldn't rush to buy it again.

Not exceptional

I admit that I was influenced by other reviews. Having tried the first of six, I am not that wowed by this purchase. A dry white, which is fine by me. Certainly clean, fresh, alcoholic and not acidic - but even when discounted by 25%, I can find better value that works for me. An interesting excursion, but going back to New World wines.

a good white burgundy

Like another reviewer, I enjoy New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, but recently I've been looking for alternatives. Avoiding most new world oaked chardonnays, we've been trying White Burgundy. This one is superb - smooth and flavoursome. Good at the full price but unmissable when on offer. Highly recommended!
