Kohlrabi may look like a root vegetable, but it is in fact part of the cabbage family, literally translating as 'cabbage turnip'. They have a beautiful light, sweet flavour that compares to a mild turnip or broccoli stem.The texture is juicy yet crisp and crunchy and will make a wonderful addition to stir-fries and salads. They are extremely versatile so well worth a try - delicious steamed, boiled, baked or even grated.

Prepare & Use
Wash before use.
"There are so many ways to enjoy this vegetable! Trim off the stems and top and tail it. Peel with a potato peeler and thinly slice, or chunk it if you prefer.
Roast: Steam for 5 minutes and roast for 45 minutes.
Steam: Can take up to 12 minutes.
Stir fry: For around 6 minutes.
Raw - simply slice or grate and enjoy!
Kohlrabi is delicious simply dressed in a lemon vinaigrette or tossed with finely chopped red onions and capers. The leaves are also delicious in soups and stews or fried with garlic and chilli"

Disappointing
I was so glad to see that they are finally being sold in the UK since I grew up eating them a lot in Germany and was looking for them for years! I was very disappointed with the quality of the Kohlrabi I had delivered. They were tiny and already quite brown on the outside. Wont order them again but instead will get them from my local fruit store which also has them in stock now.

Great vegetable but variable size
Kohlrabi is one of my favourite vegetables. It is wonderful that ocado stock it! However..... they are sold by the "piece" rather than by weight and the kohlrabi provided vary hugely in size. Sometimes the size of a grapefruit providing two good portions, sometimes the size of a small satsuma not even providing one small portion. Beware.

Rare vegetable
I am glad that you now stock this vegetable. I use cohlrabi mostly as an added veg for hearty vegetable soups. The difference in taste is quite amazing, it rounds up and mellows the soup/stew. A word about size do not sell this product by weight as the smaller bulbs are nuch tastier and buttery in texture than the large ones and can also be eaten grated raw. The larger ones, however, can sometimes be woody/tough
