Product Description

Variety: Lucinda

Datterini tomatoes are by far the sweetest tomatoes and have a lovely inviting aroma. Sourced exclusively from Sicily, we tend to work with three growers to cover the whole year. Without question the preferred tomato of the chefs we supply, it is in a league of its own.

Please note: We have spent many years working with our growers of datterini to choose the very best variety for flavour. Most commercially grown tomatoes are bred for certain characteristics - particularly high yield and in some cases, to stay on the vine. Whilst it looks very nice for them to arrive on the vine, this has no bearing on flavour. Our datterini tomatoes will sometimes come loose from the the vine, but we can guarantee that they have always been ripened and picked on the vine, and will have a wonderful, sweet flavour.

Datterinis are so delicious raw some would think it is a shame to cook them into a sauce, so wrong are they. Try cutting in half, quickly sautéing with excellent quality extra virgin olive oil some chilli and garlic if you like

Disappointing

Until recently these tomatoes were good but the last two times the quality has dropped significantly! They were rubbery and lacked flavour. Really disappointing!

Bello!!!

These Tomatoes are gorgeous and I normally hate tomatoes!! Highly recommend. Nice and sweet like in Italy

Great product until recently!!

I have ordered these tomatoes every week for the past 3 months - I think I may be addicted to them! They are really sweet with tiny seeds. Up until this week I would have given a 5 star review. However this week the tomatoes were bigger, full of seeds, not as sweet and not on the vine. I will be ordering again this week and I just hope last week was a 1 off!!

Great taste but Inconsistant

They are sweetest tomatoes if they arrive fresh, usually not, still ordering them because the first time was so great. I don't know why Ocado can't give us better sell by date products, 3 days is usually count for one day when it deliver no matter what time they arrived. I had to throw them out at least twice because it passed 24 hours refund policy. Now I order other brand to compensate that I might have to throw them out the second day. I will stop ordering this product and other fresh food if I continue to get quality like this.

usually very nice but inconsistent

I've been buying these for a few weeks and everyone commented just how tasty they were. But what has happened? Our latest delivery were not on the vine and they're definitely not as tasty. Giving 4 stars as benefit of the doubt. Here's hoping they've not started cutting corners...will stop ordering if I get another bad lot.

Linguine with Pesto alla Trapanese

Linguine with Pesto alla Trapanese

This is a really old recipe, rooted in Trapani, a port town in Sicily and adaprted from the more famous and classic basil pesto. Trapanesi substituted local ingredients such as tomatoes and almonds for the basil and pine nuts, creating this beautiful summery pasta sauce.
