Product Description

Ocado Bone in Half Shoulder of West Country Lamb.

The West Country is a traditional heartland for sheep production in England and its pastoral heritage is built on the temperate climate and excellent conditions for producing the best quality lamb, grazing some of the best quality pastures in the land.

Sheep have grazed in the West Country for thousands of years and the tradition of keeping sheep can be traced continuously for many generations. Many farming and grazing practices used today are in fact based on the traditional practices employed many centuries ago, shaped by the natural cycles of the farming calendar. Many of the traditional breeds such as the Polled Dorset and Dorset Horn breeds are prominent today because they were farmed in concert with the longer growing season and their natural ability to produce lambs for the spring. Grass is the most natural and sustainable source of feed and nutrition for sheep production and helps deliver some of the best in meat quality too.

The warmer climate of the region, refreshed by natural rainfall means the grass grows almost continuously throughout the year. Therefore, our farmers in the region can produce naturally reared and high quality finished lambs all year ‘round. All our lamb is independently Farm Assured to guarantee confidence and assurance of our products. We also combine state-of-the art processing with traditional butchery methods to ensure 100% of the care, provenance and quality of lamb is maintained from field to fork.

This is an Ocado product. Like everything in our range, it's good quality, sensibly priced and, of course, responsibly sourced.

It is hand selected and traditionally butchered, so size and cut of meat may vary.

Rancid 4 days before use by date!

I have bought this many times, but I was shocked when I received this on Friday and opened it on Sunday, a full FOUR days before it's use by date, and it smelt rancid and I had to throw it away! Was extremely disappointed with the poor quality of this product.

great value, great product.

Have used this regularly to make a slow cooked lamb madras (see bbc for recipe...) absolutely fab and plenty for several meals if portioned out carefully. A regular purchase and have not been dissatisfied yet.

Disappointing is an understatement!

I ended up throwing this very disappointing lump of fat & bone away. Ordered 1kg and size delivered was 0.852kg and barely any red meat in sight, just thick white fat and bone. To add insult to injury after having to spend my Saturday out shopping for a replacement joint for Sundays roast I found I was unable to claim a refund after 24 hours?? Thats shocking policy Ocado! Will definitely be steering well clear of this product in future & I suggest you do the same!!

fabulous lamb most tender ever

I bought this joint on the recommendation of a reviewer thank you I cooked in a slow cook pot with half a pint of lamb stock and a good slug of red wine plus redcurrant jelly. Took 5 hours on slow to cook and the meat fell off the bone. Already ordered more or my next delivery.
