Ocado Ciabatta Rolls 2 per pack
Product Description
Ocado Ciabatta Rolls.
Made to a classic Italian recipe, these Ciabatta rolls have an open texture and a thin crisp crust. A biga (flour, water, yeast) is made into a dough and fermented for 24 hours. The biga is then added to the main dough and mixed again as flour, water, salt and extra virgin olive oil is added. After further resting the dough is cut into square shapes.
Great for filling or toasting, or as the base for a classic Italian sandwich filled with Parma ham or mozzarella, basil and tomato.
Our bread is made with British flour

Far Too Dry
Two packets delivered lunchtime 17th February - Out of Date on the 18th, so had to have one packet for tea .. I've just thrown my roll away - it was awful .. Way too dry, once cut in half, the cut edge felt like cardboard .. And it smelt funny too, probably on the turn .. I will not be buying these again .. Sorry Ocado ..

Mouldy
I bought three packets of these all with the same expiry date and all had green mouldy spots when I went to use on day of expiry.

Very disappointing
We received these as a substitution for real Ciabatta. Had I known how revolting and doughy they were I would have refused them. Nothing like Ciabatta and made with a ton of additives.

Not exactly ciabatta - but they're lovely!
We really love these rolls - but they are not exactly ciabatta. Not sure what you would call them, and I should probably mark them down for not being quite as stated, but they're lovely and we want them to stay just as they are! They've got enough airholes and size to be ciabatta and according to the ingredients do contain olive oil, but they're relatively soft inside and out, no olive oil taste, no crusty top. Who hasn't occasionally fancied ciabatta but thought it'd be too hard/tough/dry for the purpose? Well these fit that gap. Maybe Ocado should adjust the description to describe them accurately, but please don't stop selling these! They aren't ciabatta, but they're aren't like any normal horrible white bread roll either.
Recipes
Crayfish and Crisp Lettuce Panini with Herbed Mayonnaise
Variation Use peeled and deveined cooked prawns in place of the crayfish. Cook's Notes Instead of sandwiching this combination in bread rolls, serve as a salad with chopped spring onion or Spanish onion over the top. Or add avocado slices and orange segments. You could even try adding steamed asparagus and halved cherry tomatoes.
15 mins
Sausage, Tomato & Mozzarella Melt
This turns that unappetising plate of cold, leftover sausages into something really scrumptious. And you can use leftover pasta sauce if you have some, rather than make the tomato sauce.

Lovely bread rolls and a good size
I find these lovely rolls and make a nice change to traditional rolls, a few mins in the oven and they are great.
