Store in a cool dry place, use within six months of opening.


Create a marinade. Patak's Curry Pastes make excellent marinades, used on their own or blended 50:50 with plain yoghurt.
Marinate meat then bake, BBQ or grill.
It is important that this product is not consumed uncooked.


Lamb Balti Recipe
Serves 4
1. Heat 3tbsp of oil in a pan and add 1 medium diced onion, fry until soft.
2. Add 1 tsp finely chopped ginger, 1 tsp finely chopped garlic and 1/2 a jar of Patak's Balti spice paste, cook for 1-2 minutes. Add 50ml of water, cook until the water has evaporated.
3. Add 500g diced lamb, cook until sealed. Add 150ml water, simmer covered until the lamb is tender (approx. 30 minutes).
4. Add 200g chopped tomatoes and simmer uncovered for 10 minutes.
5. Add 1 red and 1 green diced pepper, cook for 2 minutes, season to taste, garnish with fresh chopped coriander and serve with rice and naan.

Try crackling 1 tsp of cumin seeds in hot oil to release their sweet earthy flavour before adding the onion for that Indian home cooking experience.

Great find

I used to concoct my own curry mixture but when I use this curry paste I receive gasps of delight for the dish. Chicken , onion , pepper , chilli , mushrooms, bay leaf,s&p, 3 tspns of Balti curry paste, passata & organic vegetable juice. Wonderful & so quick.

Fantastic all rounder

I am never without a selection of pastes in the cupboard and this one in particular I never let drop below two in the house.Great base for all curries that can be tweaked up or down heat wise with the addition of extra spices or calming cream/yogurt.Also terrific for making sides like dhal and sag aloo etc

Oh dear why the change ?

This used to be excellent both taste and value for money. Now with the new recipe it is too hot, so you don't use as much. The ingredients are not ground up enough with huge stringy bits. It no longer lasts 6 months but only 6 weeks. So with it being hotter I'll end up wasting more. It also tastes completely different all heat and no spicy flavour. Won't be buying again alas.

A cupboard must

Great if you haven't the time to dry roast, crush blah blah blah your own spices. Also good whether using for a quick veggie curry or long slow cooked lamb curry, very versatile.

Lovely taste

Love this Balti, never had Balti before wanted to try the Hairy Bikers Balti recipe which uses this easy to make and delicious.
