This cured ham from Vendée is a recipe which has been passed down through the generations. It is dry rubbed with brandy and herbs and surface salted then pressed between two boards to extract the juice. It is traditionally eaten with “Mogettes” (white beans) from the Vendée region. This is a very enjoyable simple dish which is quick to make.

Interesting
It doesn't taste like other cured hams. I really like it whilst I can understand where some of the more negative reviewers are coming from.

really good
This ham is moist and full of flavour. It's a special french regional recipe with herbs and spices, so the taste is unusual.

will not buy again
I completely agree with the previous reviews. It tastes unusual for a French ham, it has a texture which is perhaps too similar to uncooked bacon. I used what was left over to season an omelette.

Not great
Lacks meat flavour tasting rather of cinnamon. Not the best.

Delicious!
Lovely, meaty ham, rather like thick parma or, as another reviewer comments, raw bacon. A delicious gastonomic treat. Not the sort of thing to put in a sandwhich, but definitely to enjoy on its own or as a bruchettine creation. Yum.
