Historians traced the origin of this speciality cheese back several centuries. Today it is consumed all over France and enjoyed for its lightness as it is made from 100% skimmed milk: 40g of this Cancoillote cheese contains fewer calories than one sugar free yoghurt! It should be consumed at room temperature as a speciality cheese eaten at meal times or in between while preparing numerous hot dishes such as toasted sandwiches and raclette.

unusual but yummy
Thought I'd give this a go based o. The reviews and the fact I'm a garlic lover. Wasn't disappointed. It's like the inside of a good gooey French Camembert mixed with garlic, although a little less cheesy and more garlic. Eat with warm crusty bread and watch it melt, almost hypnotic, as is the taste. Unusual, yes, different, very definitely, moreish and yummy, most certainly!

Unusual
Interesting garlic cheese. Kids who like garlic are bound to like this. I was fascinated with how quickly it melts when you put it in a sandwich. Can be very messy to eat, but as a garlic lover, I soon ate the pot.

Been waiting for this!
I lived in France for many years and loved this - I'm delighted to find it here! Cancoillote is very low fat I discovered it whilst on Weight Watchers over there but you would never guess as it tastes very naughty. It is quite a sticky texture like melted cheese and is absolutely great on potatoes, cooked vegetables like broccoli or cauliflower to replace cheese sauce or on crusty bread. Yes, you need to like garlic - they do do a non garlic version over there - but I love garlic. I love it and will be buying it often now that I've found it.

Passionate for cheeses, BUT...
A completely new cheese to me that I wanted to try. I love garlic and I love cheese, but the texture and flavour just didn't gel with me. It is very liquid and strong on both flavours, but the mixture didn't come together.
