Chaource French Cheese AOC, 22% Fat
In the absence of written evidence, legend has it that the Chaource cheese was created by monks in the Abbey of Pontigny in Burgundy in the Middle Ages. The expertises in the monastery were passed on to the surrounding farms. In the 19th century the cheese became the product of choice on the table of the Queen of France, Margaret of Burgundy wife of Louis X, King of France. Consequently, the Chaource cheese made by the village farmers in the south of the humid Champagne and Auxerrois regions became the cheese of choice among French families.

An excellent cheese
I've been searching for a supplier of Chaource ever since Tesco stopped stocking it in their Finest range - so I was delighted to find that Ocado now stock it. And it's a really good one - well-flavoured, and if you leave it at room temperature for a few days before opening it, it gets really runny. I'll certainly be buying this regularly.

Good stuff!
Unlike many French soft cheeses, this has lots of flavour. Very nice indeed. Goes well with crackers and cider!

Gorgeous French cheese
I had this in France earlier this year and loved it then. I was really pleased when Ocado started stocking it, as it is not readily available. Highly recommended
