Guerande Coarse Sea Salt

- No additives;
- Hand mined.

It was between 854 and 859 that the monks from St. Sauveur de Redon were donated several salines on the peninsula of Batz. These salines were mined by the salt workers and weren't going to change as a result. Sea water enters the salterns at high tide. It progresses slowly then gradually settles producing a concentration of salt which continues under the sun and wind until saturation point and until the sodium chloride forms crystals. The salt worker then collects the grey coarse salt by scraping with a type of wooden rake. The salt is then dripped dry firstly in the fresh air and then finely ground down in the salt granaries.

Lovely salt but don't use in a Mill

This is great salt to keep in a jar - it won't keep in the pack in comes in. Lovely flavour but useless in a mill, it's so wet it just clogs it up. Great for a salt pig.

Good French Salt

Good value French Sea Salt. It is coarse and damp, good flavour. Preferable for cooking in soup, stew and rustic sauce such as pasta sauce. I use mainly for boiling pasta, as needed quite a lot at a time. But nearly had a damage tooth, when a grit was found in my pasta. Bite right on it. So bear this risk in mind! Would I carry on using it? I suppose I would. For more refine salt, English Maldon is essential for cooking or table.

As per title, amazing salt! I use this in everything.

wet and dirty looking salt but tastes good

it looks dirty and is wet, but tastes, after weeks It still sticks in my salt mill, but tastes better than the ordinary table salt. I personally still prefer the mountain rock salt, with the dry clean white flakes
